Labor coalition to submit draft labor law to DPR next week

The draft took five days to write and is said to represent about 90 percent of labor strength from 17 confederations and 157 federations.

The Great Coalition for the Struggle of Indonesian Workers will submit its proposed draft of the Manpower Law to the leadership of the DPR RI next week. KSPSI President Andi Gani Nena Wea said the draft was prepared as material for dialogue and deliberation on regulations seen as fairer to workers. The drafting took five days, longer than the original three-day plan, with input from all confederations. Andi Gani said the result represents about 90 percent of the national labor movement's strength. The coalition brings together 17 of the largest labor confederations and 157 federations. The statement was delivered at the inauguration of the joint secretariat of the Great Coalition for the Struggle of Indonesian Workers in South Jakarta on Friday, which was also attended by National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
