Klopp reaches initial agreement to coach Germany
Deal still needs talks with Red Bull and internal DFB approval before the contract can be finalized.
Jurgen Klopp has reached an initial agreement with the German Football Association to become the new coach of Germany's men's national team. Detailed talks took place in New York on Friday between Klopp, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke. The DFB said both sides have agreed on the main points of the contract, but negotiations will continue next week. Final approval still depends on Red Bull, where Klopp has worked as head of global football since January 2025, as well as approval from the DFB supervisory board. Klopp is being lined up to replace Julian Nagelsmann, who stepped down after Germany were eliminated early from the World Cup. If completed, it would be Klopp's first job since leaving Liverpool in 2024 and his debut at international level.
