KKP and DANA haul 317.3 kg of trash from Petitenget Beach
More than 500 people joined the cleanup in Badung, where stakeholders also signed a zero-waste pledge for the Petitenget Beach area.
The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and DANA collected 317.3 kilograms of trash from Petitenget Beach in Badung, Bali, on Saturday in a beach cleanup joined by more than 500 people. The pre-event for the Ocean Impact Summit 2026 involved local communities, academics, students, hospitality workers, tourists and Seven Clean Seas. The trash collected included packaging plastic, glass bottles, organic waste and cigarette butts. KKP Director General for Marine Management Koswara M said prevention must start on land because marine debris is harder and more expensive to handle. KKP is also carrying out the Laut Sehat Bebas Sampah program and working with Bali, DKI Jakarta and Nusa Tenggara Timur to reduce the amount of waste entering the sea. At the same location, the parties signed a zero-waste commitment for the Petitenget Beach area.
