Kim Jong Un enters China via new Dandong-Sinuiju bridge
Kim's sixth China visit marks the opening of the long-delayed 3,026-meter land route, expected to speed North Korea-China trade.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited Dandong, China, on Oct. 24 by crossing the newly opened Yalu River New Bridge between Sinuiju and Dandong. During the trip, Kim was accompanied by Wang Huning, who also conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping. The visit was seen as a sign of stronger Beijing-Pyongyang economic ties after trade had long been slowed by tensions and the pandemic. The 3,026-meter, four-lane bridge was completed in 2014, but its opening was delayed for 12 years. While in Dandong, Kim also visited a Korean War memorial hall and an auto factory before returning to North Korea on Oct. 25.
