Kemlu: 535,897 Indonesians in Middle East remain safe
Kemlu has helped 3,038 Indonesians return home since the conflict began in late February through evacuation and self-repatriation.
The Foreign Ministry said 535,897 Indonesians in countries affected by the Middle East conflict, including Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait and Bahrain, remain safe for now. The directorate for the protection of Indonesian citizens urged people to stay alert, follow local authorities' instructions and contact Indonesian missions immediately in an emergency.
Kemlu added that all Indonesian missions in the region have activated contingency plans in line with developments on the ground. Since the war between the United States and Iran broke out in late February, the government has facilitated the return of 3,038 Indonesians to Indonesia through evacuation and self-repatriation.
At the same time, attacks by both sides continue to spread. The U.S. military reported a 12th straight night of strikes on Iranian military targets, while Iran attacked U.S. bases in Kuwait and Jordan. Tensions also spread to Yemen after the Houthi fired missiles at Saudi Arabia.
