Kemhan puts logo on private J7 Explorer ship
The 120-meter vessel is being used as a logistics base for food security programs in Wanam, Kalimantan and Sumatera.
Kementerian Pertahanan explained that the expedition ship J7 Explorer, which went viral for carrying the Kemhan logo, remains privately owned but is being operated for a government assignment. Brigjen TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, head of Kemhan's Defense Information Bureau, said the logo was placed on the ship because its activities fall under state authority to support logistics for the food security program. The vessel is being used in several areas, including Wanam in Papua Selatan, as well as Kalimantan and Sumatera. In a separate statement, the ship's owner Andi Samsudin Arsyad or Haji Isam said J7 Explorer is being used as a mobile base for a large-scale rice field development project in Merauke. The 120-meter ship, with a gross tonnage of 8.076 GT, was said to have been completed in Batam in 2022.
