Kemhan acknowledges J7 Explorer is a private ship loaned free
Kemhan said the 8,076 GT vessel is not a state asset and is used for food-security logistics and worker lodging in Wanam.
The Ministry of Defense said J7 Explorer, which bears the Kemhan logo, is a privately owned vessel borrowed at no rental cost and is not a state asset. Kemhan's Defense Information Bureau chief Rico Ricardo Sirait said the ship is used to support ministry activities in carrying out government programs in several regions of Indonesia, especially food-security logistics distribution. J7 Explorer has been used in Wanam, South Papua, as well as in Kalimantan and Sumatera. In Wanam, the ship is also used as temporary lodging because onshore facilities remain limited. Rico added that the Kemhan logo was placed on the ship to show it was being used to support ministry activities. Businessman Andi Samsudin Arsyad, also known as Haji Isam, said the ship belongs to him. The 8,076 gross tonnage vessel was built in Batam and completed in 2022.
