Kementan reports 300 palm oil firms over fresh fruit bunch prices
The government said 70 percent of fresh fruit bunch prices in various regions have started to improve, but full recovery is still the target.
Kementerian Pertanian has reported about 300 of 1,900 palm oil companies to the Satgas Pangan Polri on suspicion they have not adjusted the purchase price of fresh fruit bunches, or TBS. Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said TBS prices must return to the benchmarks set by regional governments under governor regulations so farmers are not harmed. According to Kementan, about 70 percent of TBS prices in various regions have begun to recover after coordination with businesses and stakeholders in the palm oil sector. The government is now monitoring companies that have yet to adjust prices and is aiming for 100 percent recovery. Amran said about 15 million palm oil farmers depend on the commodity for household income.
