Kemensos develops 25-minute short film 'Sekolah Rakyat'

The film will be set in Cariu, with a 30-second trailer planned for public distribution channels, including videotron.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and the Penjaga Harapan platform are preparing the short film “Sekolah Rakyat” to highlight education access for children from extremely poor families. The roughly 25-minute film was discussed in an audience at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Jakarta on 23 June 2026, with support from Deputy Social Affairs Minister Agus Jabo Priyono. The story will follow a child from a modest family who initially has to work every day before getting the chance to attend school, with Cariu and surrounding areas as the backdrop. According to the ministry, most Sekolah Rakyat students come from families in deciles 1 and 2 in the National Socioeconomic Single Data. The boarding-school program is intended to expand access to education without being constrained by zoning rules or geographic barriers. In addition to the main version, the team is also preparing a 30-second trailer for screening across various public channels.
