Kemensos Finds 1,900 Staff Linked to Online Gambling
Inspectorate General is verifying PPATK data, with penalties ranging from warnings to dismissal if the cases are confirmed.
The Ministry of Social Affairs found that 1,900 of its employees were suspected of taking part in online gambling transactions based on data from Pusat Pelaporan dan Analisis Transaksi Keuangan for the 2024-2025 period. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said the outgoing transaction value for the group reached Rp8.6 billion. The breakdown consists of 1,800 PPPK, 42 PNS or ASN, and the rest part-time PPPK. Kemensos said the finding is serious because it involves discipline, integrity and the quality of public services. The Inspectorate General is now verifying and validating the data to confirm each employee's involvement. If proven, sanctions could range from warnings to dismissal; PPPK contracts could also be left unrenewed. Saifullah also highlighted that 97.9 percent of the PPPK group were employees newly appointed in 2025 from former non-ASN staff.
