Kemenkeu Not Yet Seeking Stake in BEI After New P2SK Rule

The revised P2SK law, enacted June 4, 2026, opens the door for Kemenkeu, BI and Danantara to become BEI shareholders.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said Kementerian Keuangan has no plan to take an ownership stake in PT Bursa Efek Indonesia, even though the new rule is already in place. He made the remarks in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, on Tuesday, while responding to revisions to the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law, or P2SK. Under Law No. 4 of 2026, Article 8B paragraph (1) allows Kemenkeu, Bank Indonesia and Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara, or Danantara, to become shareholders in BEI. Article 8B paragraph (2) says such ownership must still preserve BEI's independence as Indonesia's capital markets authority. The revision was enacted on June 4, 2026, while further details on exchange shareholders are set out in OJK regulations.
