Kemenhaj Revokes KBIHU License Over Hajj Fraud Case

One mukimin named Muhtar has been detained in Saudi Arabia, while other cases involve badal, dam, sacrificial rites and irregular pilgrims.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is preparing criminal sanctions and license revocations for rogue KBIHU operators and officials suspected of cheating Hajj pilgrims out of up to Rp1,4 billion. The action targets fictitious badal hajj practices, embezzlement of dam and sacrificial funds, and the smuggling of irregular pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. Deputy Minister of Hajj Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said the pilgrim protection team from KJRI Jeddah has secured the suspect. ANTARA also reported that a mukimin named Muhtar was arrested and detained after allegedly embezzling Rp306,8 million belonging to pilgrims from Merauke. Kemenhaj spokesman Ichsan Marsha said other findings involved MH in kloter UPG-29, KBIHU MB in kloter BPN-11, and AB in kloter BPN-10; some of the funds have been returned after counseling.
