Kemendagri urges greater OAP role in 2026 Papua economic census

Deputy Home Minister Ribka Haluk called for the 2026 Economic Census in Tanah Papua to involve more Orang Asli Papua as field data collectors. In a virtual meeting with Badan Pusat Statistik at the Ministry of Home Affairs office, she said a social and cultural approach is important to ease data gathering in an area with complex geographic and social conditions. Ribka also pushed for special recruitment policies down to the district level and an outreach model like the one used by Ditjen Dukcapil so the count reaches wilayah tertinggal, terdepan, dan terluar. She said accurate data is needed as a basis for distributing otsus funds, DAK and other development programs in Papua.
