Kemendagri urges One Data law to unite central-local databases

That would let BPS data, social aid and ministry programs be used together for regional planning, if cybersecurity and sensitive data are protected.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is urging implementation of the Indonesia One Data Law to connect ministry, agency and regional government databases so development planning is more targeted. In a socialization session at the Bappenas office in Jakarta on Thursday (5/11), Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the main problem so far has been the lack of connectivity between the systems and applications used by each agency. With interoperability, BPS data such as inflation and deciles can be combined with program data from the Ministry of UMKM, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as local government data. Lawmaker Yanuar Arif Wibowo said a legal umbrella is needed to curb ministerial sectoral ego. Tito also warned about division of authority, protection of sensitive data and cybersecurity so integration does not trigger regulatory clashes or leaks.
