Kemenag prepares LGBTQ materials for counselors, religion classes
A guideline is being drafted for religious counselors, while similar material is planned for madrasah, pesantren and PTKN.
Kementerian Agama is preparing religious education materials related to LGBTQ as guidance for religious counselors, while also pushing the same issue into religious and faith-based education. Dirjen Bimas Islam Abu Rokhmad said the material is being drafted so counselors have the same reference when explaining it to the public through pengajian, majelis taklim, family coaching and other religious forums. A day earlier, Deputy Minister of Religion Romo Muhammad Syafi'i said material on preventing the spread of LGBTQ culture will be added to lessons for children in madrasah, pesantren and perguruan tinggi keagamaan. He also said Kemenag will form a team to prepare educational materials, divide outreach areas and carry out programs in the field. Romo referred to Perpres Nomor 111 Tahun 2025, while Abu said the drafting of the material is part of the mandate in Perpres Nomor 153 Tahun 2024 on Kementerian Agama.
