Pulogadung shop-house fire kills 3, injures 1
Police are still probing the exact cause, but initial findings point to an electrical short from a wall outlet.
A fire at a shop-house and business premises on Jalan Palad RT 02/RW 03, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, killed three people and injured one on Sunday before dawn. East Jakarta’s Gulkarmat agency received the report at about 03.00 WIB and the first unit arrived four minutes later. A total of 14 vehicles and 60 personnel were deployed to prevent the blaze from spreading to the dense residential area nearby. The fire was fully extinguished at about 05.00 WIB. Abdul Wahid identified the victims as ES (67), LF (40), and RM (10). Pulogadung police chief Kompol Gomos Simamora said the exact cause remains under investigation. Initial suspicions point to an electrical short from one of the outlets that then set fire to a house, a convenience store and a rice stall.
