83-hectare illegal logging case in Solok moves to prosecution

The Ministry of Forestry handed the suspect and evidence in an illegal logging case in Solok Regency, West Sumatra, to the Solok District Attorney’s Office after the case file was declared complete, or P-21. The suspect, identified as BS alias BG, 50, is alleged to have been involved in large-scale tree felling in the Sariak Bayang area since mid-2025. An on-site inspection found logging in primary forest within the PHAT SD area and outside that area, which is classified as APL, with five TPK and hundreds of round logs without barcodes. Investigators also seized one bulldozer, two excavators, 152 round logs with a volume of 237,53 cubic meters, and case documents. The logged area outside PHAT SD covers about 83,31 hectares, with total round-log transport of 11.299,81 cubic meters. The case is considered important because the Solok forest area serves as a water catchment area and could raise the risk of flash floods.
