Jury selection ends in Las Vegas trial over Tupac Shakur killing
What's next: Opening statements begin Monday in the first murder trial tied to the 1996 drive-by shooting.
A Las Vegas murder trial over the 1996 killing of Tupac Shakur is set to move into opening statements Monday after jury selection finished. Defendant Duane "Keffe D" Davis, 63, has pleaded not guilty to murder with a deadly weapon with intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. Prosecutors are trying the first criminal case brought in Shakur's death, nearly 30 years after the rapper was shot in a drive-by attack on Sept. 7, 1996. If convicted, Davis faces life in prison without parole. The case is expected to revisit the East Coast-West Coast rap feud, tensions between the Bloods and Crips, and could feature testimony from former Death Row Records executive Suge Knight.
