Jokowi Opens Door to PSI, Tapped as Trustee Board Chief
He is not yet officially in the party, but vows to work “all out” for PSI and join its regional visits.
Joko Widodo has opened the door to joining the Partai Solidaritas Indonesia, which is now led by his son, Kaesang Pangarep. When met at his home in Sumber, Solo, on Friday (19/6), the seventh president of Indonesia did not deny reports that he is being prepared to become chairman of PSI’s Board of Trustees, but stressed that internal procedures must be completed before a formal move. Jokowi said he is ready to attend invitations from PSI and the public, and reiterated his commitment to work hard for the party. Speaking to Tempo, he said he would come as a “motivator.” Earlier, Grace Natalie said PSI was finalizing its structure down to the village and urban ward level ahead of party verification so Jokowi could be introduced formally soon.
