Japan's Miura, 59, scores in Fukushima United's 7-0 cup win
What's new: The strike was Kazuyoshi Miura's first competitive goal since November 2022, extending his playing career into a 42nd season.
Kazuyoshi Miura scored his first competitive goal in nearly four years on Saturday, finding the net at age 59 as Fukushima United beat Iwaki Furukawa 7-0 in the Emperor's Cup. Miura scored in the 52nd minute to make it 5-0, finishing a cutback after a run into the box before coming off three minutes later. The former Japan forward, known as King Kazu, had not scored in a competitive match since November 2022, when he netted for Suzuka PG, now Atletico Suzuka, against FC Osaka. Miura is on loan from Yokohama FC and has extended his stay at third-tier Fukushima until June 2027, putting him on course to keep playing into his 60s.
