Jakarta’s 499th anniversary marked by 20,000 at Monas
Events begin with cleanup at 4,443 mosques and 6,657 mushala, followed by visits to Betawi scholars’ graves across Jakarta.
The DKI Jakarta provincial government will hold a large-scale haul for Betawi ulama and habaib on June 19, 2026, as part of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary. The main event will take place at the South Plaza of Monas, Central Jakarta, from 17.00-22.00 WIB, with an estimated 20,000 worshippers from Jakarta and surrounding areas. The event carries the theme of strengthening religious harmony amid diversity and Jakarta’s transformation into a global city. Activities begin in the morning with a cleanup drive at 4,443 mosques and 6,657 mushala, followed by visits to the graves of Betawi ulama. Governor Pramono Anung is scheduled to visit the grave of Guru Marzuqi in Cipinang Muara, while Deputy Governor Rano Karno will visit the grave of Guru Mughni in Kuningan. Khotmul Qur'an will also be held at Masjid Fatahillah, City Hall, before the main event.
