Rain fell over several areas of Jakarta on Wednesday (19/8) afternoon after about three weeks without rain. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the rain was triggered by a weather modification operation carried out by the DKI provincial government when clouds with rain potential were present. He said rain fell twice with a gap of about 30 minutes, but the result was not yet optimal because cloud availability was limited. Separately, BMKG said the rain that fell in East Jakarta, South Jakarta and Bekasi around 12:30-14:30 WIB was also influenced by the meeting of moist air masses from the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, a cyclonic circulation south of Java, and tropical cyclone seed 95W in the western Philippine Sea.
