Jabar accelerates Indonesia life expectancy target to 76 years

The push is backed by KITA SEHAT and Dokter Desa programs aimed at stunting, toddler nutrition and primary care in 27 regions.

The West Java provincial government is accelerating efforts to raise Indonesia's life expectancy from 74 to 76 years in five years through stronger primary health care. The move is being carried out through the KITA SEHAT Program, an Indonesia-Australia partnership for health transformation, and backed by the Dokter Desa Program in remote areas. West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan said the program is designed to strengthen disease prevention, curb stunting and improve nutrition for toddlers in 27 regencies/cities in Jabar. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stressed that the government's focus is to keep people healthy through promotive and preventive services, including annual health checks, so the risk of chronic disease can be detected earlier.
