Istana Denies Rumor Chatib Basri Replacing Purbaya at Finance Ministry

Istana again denied rumors of a change in Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto has no plan to replace Purbaya, while also rejecting reports that senior University of Indonesia economist Chatib Basri would enter the post as finance minister. He made the remarks to reporters at the Senayan parliamentary complex in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 8, 2026. Prasetyo also stressed that there are no plans for a cabinet reshuffle. He asked the public not to link specific names with specific posts because no replacement is being prepared at this time. According to him, any changes will be announced only if the President judges that a refresh is indeed needed.
