Israeli strikes kill 8 in Tyre as Lebanon truce frays again
What's new: the evacuation order covered Tyre's Christian quarter for the first time as rescue crews searched rubble for survivors.
Israeli air strikes hit Tyre and other parts of southern Lebanon on June 9, killing at least eight people in the coastal city and wounding dozens, as a two-month ceasefire came under renewed strain. Lebanon's Health Ministry said the toll in Tyre could rise because rescuers were still searching collapsed buildings. The Israeli military had ordered residents to leave the city hours earlier, extending the warning for the first time to Tyre's Christian quarter. Strikes also hit towns and villages across the south after Iran warned it could attack Israel again if Israeli attacks in Lebanon continued. Israel has said it will keep targeting Hezbollah positions despite the threat.
