Israeli forces break up dawn prayers, ban adhan in Bethlehem

They also fired stun grenades and tear gas, then closed access to Al Arqoub Village in southwest Bethlehem.

Israeli forces broke up a congregational dawn prayer and barred the adhan from a mosque in Husan Village, west Bethlehem, early Saturday. According to a WAFA report cited by Antara, the troops stormed the mosque, forced worshippers out, then fired stun grenades and tear gas at them. Israel also closed all gates and entrances leading to Al Arqoub Village in southwest Bethlehem. A resident of Nahalin was also reported attacked while passing through the main gate separating Bethlehem from other areas in the province. The incident came after the Israeli Knesset Ministerial Committee on Legislation approved a bill that would further restrict the use of loudspeakers for the adhan at mosques.
