Israel shared US intel on new alleged Iran plot targeting Trump
What's new: The reports described a fresh, specific threat as Washington tries to hold a fragile ceasefire with Tehran.
Israel passed intelligence to the United States this week describing what US media reports called a new and specific Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump. CNN and The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported the warning was distinct from longstanding threats tied to the 2020 US strike that killed Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani. The reports surfaced as tensions remain high after recent US and Iranian attacks and amid US efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire. Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One after the NATO summit in Turkey, said he was on Iranian target lists. The New York Times reported he switched planes at the request of the Secret Service as a security precaution.
