Iran threatens to brand sanctioning countries as enemies

Tehran also threatened to target U.S. economic interests and oil companies around Iran if new sanctions are enforced.

Iran warned other countries not to join the United States economic pressure campaign against Tehran, threatening to regard them as enemies. Mohsen Rezai, head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said countries that take part in economic restrictions against Iran would harm their own interests. In a statement on state television, Rezai added that Iran has so far targeted only U.S. military bases, but could broaden attacks to U.S. economic interests if new sanctions are carried out. The pressure comes as Washington pushes its allies to join a campaign to isolate Iran's economy, while the conflict between the two sides moves toward its sixth month.
