Apple’s first iOS 27 developer beta contains some of the clearest public signs yet that the company is preparing a foldable iPhone. Code found in the software includes references to a device’s folded or unfolded state, hinge angle and repair tools for a second display, cover glass and extra light sensors. Public features in iOS 27 and macOS 27 also appear tailored to larger, flexible screens, including full-page iPhone widgets and iPhone Mirroring that can scale to iPad-like layouts. Bloomberg has reported the device is set to launch in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro line, with a starting price near $2,000 as Apple moves into a category led by Samsung and other phone makers.
