IOC ethics complaint targets Infantino after Trump FIFA lobbying

What's new: FairSquare said it will ask Olympic investigators to examine whether FIFA breached political neutrality rules.

Gianni Infantino is facing a fresh ethics challenge after rights group FairSquare said it will file a complaint with the International Olympic Committee over Donald Trump’s role in overturning Folarin Balogun’s World Cup ban. Trump said he pushed FIFA to review the red-card suspension, and Balogun was then cleared to play against Belgium despite rules that do not allow appeals of red cards. Belgium beat the United States 4-1 in Seattle. FairSquare argues the episode, along with Infantino’s wider ties to Trump, may have breached political neutrality standards. IOC president Kirsty Coventry said the Olympic body had been watching events and would review any complaint it received.
