Interpol issues red notice for Syekh Ahmad Al Misry

Police say the suspect is now being sought in Egypt after a report accusing him of abusing five male students.

Interpol issued a red notice for Syekh Ahmad Al Misry, a suspect in an alleged sexual abuse case handled by Bareskrim Polri. Polri’s international relations division chief, Brig. Gen. Untung Widyatmoko, said the red notice numbered A/10808/7-2026 was issued on 9 July 2026 after being submitted by Divhubinter. According to Polri, Al Misry is currently in Egypt, and police will coordinate with local authorities in an effort to arrest him. On Interpol’s website, he is listed as Ahmad Abdelwakil Elsayed Mohamed Ahmed, born in Kalyubiya, Egypt, on 1 January 1987, and an Indonesian citizen. The case stemmed from a report filed in November 2025 over allegations of sexual abuse against five male santri; witnesses said similar alleged acts also occurred in 2021.
