Inter, AC Milan plan €1.2 billion, 71,500-seat San Siro replacement

What's next: Work is set to start in 2028, with the Generali Stadium targeted to open for the 2031-32 season.

Inter Milan and AC Milan presented plans for a new shared stadium in Milan that would replace San Siro from the 2031-32 season. The 71,500-seat venue, to be called Generali Stadium, is expected to cost €1.2 billion and will rise on the site of the current ground, which the clubs bought with surrounding land for €197 million in 2025. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, with most of the existing stadium due to be demolished near completion. The clubs said the project is central to boosting matchday and commercial revenue, while designers Norman Foster and David Manica said the steep-sided layout aims to keep fans close to the pitch. Some Inter supporters protested the planned loss of San Siro.
