Indonesia offers Russia role in Trans-Sumatera rail corridor

The offer also covers heavy-haul rail, high-speed trains, rolling stock manufacturing, and Metro Moskow guidance for MRT and LRT.

Indonesia is opening the door for Russian companies to help develop strategic railway corridors, including Trans-Sumatera, Trans-Sulawesi, and Trans-Kalimantan. The proposal was discussed by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono during a meeting with Russian Federation Transport Minister Andrey Nikitin in Moskow. Beyond network construction, the cooperation offered includes developing rail technology and rolling stock manufacturing, high-speed rail and heavy-haul engineering, improving safety and operating standards, low-carbon railways, and strengthening human resources and research. AHY also said Metro Moskow's experience could serve as a reference for developing MRT, LRT, and commuter rail in Indonesia.
