Indonesia exempts 4 countries from new DHE SDA rules

The government has exempted the United States, China, Canada and Australia from some of the new provisions on Devisa Hasil Ekspor Sumber Daya Alam (DHE SDA), which took effect on 1 June 2026. Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the exemption was granted because Indonesia has bilateral trade agreements with the four countries. The new rules under PP Nomor 21 Tahun 2026 still require all SDA exporters to repatriate 100 percent of DHE to the domestic financial system. However, exporters must still place the funds in special accounts: at least 30 percent for three months for oil and gas and 100 percent for 12 months for non-oil and gas. The government also cut the obligation to convert foreign exchange to rupiah from 100 percent to a maximum of 50 percent.
