Indonesia economy grows 5.29% in Q2 2026, slower pace

Badan Pusat Statistik recorded Indonesia's economy in the second quarter of 2026 growing 5.29 percent year on year, slower than 5.61 percent in the first quarter but above 5.12 percent in the same period last year. BPS Deputy for Balance Sheets and Statistical Analysis M. Edy Mahmud said GDP at current prices reached Rp 6.552,1 triliun and GDP at constant prices Rp 3.576,2 triliun. On a quarterly basis, the economy grew 3.73 percent, while cumulative growth in the first half reached 5.45 percent. BPS said domestic support came from consumption, including restaurants and hotels, e-retail and marketplace transactions, and the disbursement of the 13th month salary for ASN, TNI, Polri, and retirees. CNBC Indonesia noted the result was also above the consensus of 15 institutions that had forecast 5.12 percent.
