Indonesia delays electricity exports to Singapore as price talks continue

Prabowo assigned Danantara to carry out cross-border power trade after meeting with Singapore's prime minister.

Indonesia has not begun exporting electricity to Singapore because the government is still negotiating a price deemed mutually beneficial. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said talks on electricity exports, green power development and carbon capture storage have been under way since a memorandum of understanding was signed last year, but the two sides have not reached agreement on price. After a meeting in Jakarta on July 6, President Prabowo Subianto assigned BPI Danantara to carry out cross-border electricity trade cooperation with Singapore. Prabowo also said the meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong produced 26 memorandums of understanding, including 18 between governments and eight between businesses.
