IHSG jumps 1.26% near 6,500, lifted by BYAN surge
Bayan Resources rose 20% on takeover rumors for a 62% stake, adding about 51 points to the index.
IHSG rose sharply in Tuesday morning trading, August 18, 2026, nearing 6,500 after opening up 46.94 points at 6,448.83 and then jumping 1.26% to 6,482.57. The index was driven mainly by energy stocks, which gained 7.55%.
The biggest boost came from PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN), which surged 20% to Rp17.275. The gain came amid rumors that Jhonlin Group, owned by Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad alias Haji Isam, was targeting about 62% of Bayan's controlling shares. Morning trading data showed BYAN alone contributed about 51.45 points to IHSG.
Other stocks supporting the index included Bank Mandiri, Bumi Resources Minerals, Bank Central Asia, and Bumi Resources. Market participants are also awaiting the results of Bank Indonesia's Board of Governors Meeting on August 18-19, with expectations that the benchmark rate will stay at 5.75%.
