House DHS hearing erupts in clash between DeLauro and Mullin

What's new: Chairman Mark Amodei banged the gavel after the two sparred over child separations and missing migrant children.

A House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing broke into a shouting match Thursday as Rep. Rosa DeLauro and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin argued over immigration policy and child welfare cases. DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat, accused the Trump administration of separating 3,900 children from their families. Mullin fired back that 450,000 children were lost under the Biden administration and said DeLauro had stayed silent. As both talked over each other, DeLauro pointed at Mullin and told the chairman to “put him in his place.” Chairman Mark Amodei then struck the gavel and told the room to restore order.
