Haze in Palangka Raya pushes school start to 08.00

New: PAUD has shifted to remote learning, while SD-SMP students must wear masks and stop outdoor activities.

The Palangka Raya Education Office has delayed the start of classes for SD and SMP students to 08.00 WIB after haze from forest and land fires reduced air quality in the Central Kalimantan capital. Schools also have temporarily halted outdoor activities and required students to wear masks. For PAUD students, learning has temporarily shifted to remote instruction to reduce exposure to smoke. The adjustment was seen, among others, at SD Negeri 4 Menteng in Palangka Raya on Friday, 21 August 2026, where teaching and learning continued under the new rules amid the karhutla haze.
