Hawaii Reps. Ed Case, Jill Tokuda win Democratic House primaries

What's next: Case faces Republican Adriel Lam in November, while Tokuda advances to a general-election race against Brenton Awa.

Hawaii Democratic Reps. Ed Case and Jill Tokuda won their House primaries Saturday, preserving the party's hold on two seats heading into November. Case, a longtime congressman representing the 1st District centered on Honolulu and parts of Oahu, beat state Sen. Jarrett Keohokalole after facing his strongest primary test in years from the party's left. Tokuda secured the 2nd District nomination for a third-term bid after defeating three challengers in a race that drew attention when candidate Kirill Basin was arrested after a confrontation at Keawakapu Beach. Tokuda's district covers the rest of the state outside Oahu plus some rural and suburban parts of the island.
