Hasto links satire Ghost in the Cell to Bulan Bung Karno
He highlighted Prakasa Kitabuming of Solo, inmate number 21061961, as a symbol of the film's social criticism.
PDI Perjuangan Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said Joko Anwar's film "Ghost in the Cell" carries social criticism in line with the spirit of Bulan Bung Karno. After a screening in Jakarta on Sunday, Hasto highlighted Prakasa Kitabuming, a greedy businessman who still lives lavishly despite being jailed in a corruption case. He stressed the character's symbolic elements: from Solo and carrying inmate registration number 21061961. Hasto said the film's satire is a reminder that a country can be damaged when run with greed. Ganjar Pranowo, who also attended, said the film's jabs were "lumayan nyelekit" at social conditions. The screening was held by Badan Kebudayaan Nasional PDI Perjuangan to mark Bulan Bung Karno.
