Hari Anak Nasional, 1,050 child inmates get sentence cuts
New: 60 child inmates were immediately freed, and the reductions saved the state about Rp1.07 billion in meal costs.
The Directorate General of Corrections under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections gave sentence reductions to 1,050 child inmates across Indonesia for the 2026 Hari Anak Nasional on Thursday (23/7). Of the total, 990 children received partial reductions, while 60 others were released immediately after receiving PMP HAN II. Under PMP HAN I, 660 children received a 1 month reduction, 206 children 2 months, 105 children 3 months, and 19 children 4 months. The largest numbers came from Sumatra Utara with 102 children, Jawa Barat with 96, and Jawa Timur with 80. Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto said coaching at LPKA is intended to build character, academic and vocational skills, and preparation for return to society. The program also saved Rp1.075.140.000 in meal costs for child inmates.
