Pertamax price increase to add 0.25% to inflation, BI projects

BI still expects annual inflation to stay within 1.5%-3.5% in 2026, even as higher fuel prices lift the forecast.

Bank Indonesia expects the increase in nonsubsidized fuel prices, especially Pertamax, to add about 0.25% to national inflation in 2026. Pertamax rose from Rp12.300 to Rp16.250 per liter starting June 10, while Pertamax Green 95 increased from Rp12.900 to Rp17.000 per liter. BI Deputy Governor Aida S. Budiman said the inflation pressure comes from the spillover of global energy prices into the administered prices group. At the same time, BI sees nonsubsidized fuel prices as still volatile; Pertamax and Pertamax Turbo rose, while Dexlite and Pertamina Dex fell. BI is also watching imported inflation from global commodities and food inflation during the dry season. Even so, the inflation forecast remains within the 2,5 plus minus 1 percent target.
