Government targets 1% SAF blend for aviation from 2027
Pertamina is lining up supply from Cilacap, Dumai and Balongan and has tested SAF with Garuda Indonesia and Pelita Air.
The government is targeting a 1% blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for the aviation sector starting in 2027 as part of efforts to cut carbon emissions from air transport. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said SAF will be a key part of Indonesia's low-emission aviation transition. At the same time, Pertamina Patra Niaga said its production facility in Cilacap is ready, while co-processing trials are under way in Dumai and Balongan. The company also said it has tested SAF with Garuda Indonesia and Pelita Air, and signed a memorandum of understanding with Boeing Indonesia on ecosystem development, feedstock supply and policy support.
