German president to meet Prabowo in Jakarta on June 15

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to make a state visit to Indonesia on June 15, 2026, and meet President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta. German Ambassador to Indonesia Ralf Beste said the one-day visit carries an agenda to strengthen bilateral cooperation. According to Beste, Berlin wants to deepen ties with strong emerging countries such as Indonesia, which is viewed as important because of its position as the largest country in Southeast Asia. In addition to meeting Prabowo, Steinmeier is also scheduled to visit Istiqlal Mosque and Jakarta Cathedral via the Terowongan Silaturahmi that connects the two houses of worship.
