Gerindra defends Prabowo's ‘okay’ grade, cites 63% approval

The defense cites an IPO survey dated Aug. 8, 2026, plus claims of economic stability and a 300%-400% gain at Danantara.

Gerindra defended President Prabowo Subianto's description of his administration's performance over two years as “oke.” Gerindra spokesman Sugiat Santoso said in Jakarta on Sunday that the assessment was not a one-sided claim, but a reflection of cabinet work and public perception. He cited an Indonesia Political Opinion survey dated Aug. 8, 2026, which put approval of the government at 63 percent. Sugiat also said domestic economic stability has been maintained amid global turmoil, including by keeping subsidized fuel prices unchanged to preserve purchasing power and hold down inflation. In addition, he claimed the financial performance of the Badan Pengelola Investasi Danantara over the past year rose 300%-400%. Even so, he said the “oke” label should not lead the government to become complacent and it must remain open to public criticism.
