Gerindra said it was not discussing the 2029 election or any plan to bring it forward after a clip of Projo chairman Budi Arie Setiadi went viral. Gerindra spokesman Sugiat Santoso said the party was focused on overseeing President Prabowo Subianto's programs and was not affected by the remarks. In the circulating video, Budi Arie appeared to refer to the possibility of a political moment arriving before 2029 while sitting next to former president Joko Widodo. Projo secretary general Fredy Alex Damanik later clarified that the recording was not complete, but a snippet from a volunteer friendship forum during Bulan Kemerdekaan that discussed various national scenarios.
