Gaza buries 112 recovered from 2023 Israeli strike on Sabra

Thousands of Palestinians in Gaza City held a mass funeral Tuesday for 112 people whose remains were recently recovered from rubble left by an Israeli strike on the Sabra neighborhood on Nov. 22, 2023. The dead were members of the Abu Sharia and Hassayna families, with Palestinian authorities saying women and children made up most of those killed.
Civil defense crews, backed with equipment and training from the International Committee of the Red Cross, spent about 17 days searching the site and identifying remains. Palestinian authorities described it as one of the largest mass funerals of the war. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to requests for its account of what was targeted in the strike.
