Forest fire along Bromo route blocked from spreading
BPBD Probolinggo and Perhutani focused initial response on protecting farmland in Sukapura as dry vegetation raised spread risk.
A forest fire broke out in the Perhutani RPH Sukapura area, Gunung Ringgit Block, Sapikerep Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java, on Saturday (25/7). The fire started on the hills along the road to the Bromo tourist area. BPBD Probolinggo Regency and Perhutani carried out an initial response to keep the flames from spreading to farmland and residents' homes. The effort was given priority because vegetation has dried out during the dry season, allowing fire to spread more quickly. Officers also stepped up monitoring at several fire points around the site to reduce the risk of expansion.
