Floods inundate 12 villages in Aceh Barat, damage roads
Krueng Meureubo and Krueng Woyla remain high, while floodwater in Napai has begun entering residents' homes.
Flooding spread in Aceh Barat Regency, Aceh, and inundated 12 villages in three districts since Saturday, Oct. 31. Water was reported at tens of centimeters deep after heavy rain triggered river overflows in the interior. The Aceh Barat BPBD deployed a joint team for data collection and response at the scene. Seven affected villages are in Pante Ceureumen District, four in Sungai Mas, and one in Woyla Barat. In Gampong Sikundo, the flood eroded part of the road and damaged a school fence. In Gampong Napai, water levels rose significantly and began entering residents' homes. Aceh Barat BPBD Acting Head Dharmawan said the flooding was caused by overflows from Krueng Meureubo and Krueng Woyla. Residents living along the riverbanks were urged to stay alert as the current and water level remained high through Sunday afternoon.
